Intel i9-13900K Hell: related to Cubase instability?

@DrWashington I htink you can blame the gamers. Musicians are such a tiny demographic in PC users we’re not taken into account at all.

Gamers however are a huge demographic and so a lot of time and effort is put into maxing out everything so games can get better frame rates/performance and be top of the CPU charts.
The whole intel thing is caused by overvolting the CPU to eek out a few % points for gamers.

If I set my 7950x in theBIOS to run on ECO 105w mode, the actual difference in my test project is 1 extra plugin…yep…1

No gamer or tester would ever run it like this but for a DAW it actually makes a lot of sense. You’re running well under spec and therefore cooler and less system stress all round.

Intel has confirmed that they have found the root cause of the issue, and that it is resolved with the latest microcode 0x12B. Hopefully this puts and end to the issue, at least for new builds – damaged CPUs will still need to be replaced.
