Intensity video codec?

I’m struggling big time to get any video up with BM Intensity in Nuendo.
ProRes422, H2.64, Mjpg, phjpg… What is wrong??

Ola

There’s nothing wrong. We use quicktime 1280x720 photojpeg, no problems.

2 systems up and running fine with Intensity.
Initial problems we had were driver and remains of older driver in the system.
Erasing all BM drivers and re-install did the usual trick, here.

Big K

Reinstall Quicktime 7.6.x ??

Thanks for your input guys,

Always latest QT, so that doesn’t seem to be it…
Maybe I should do a driver cleanup?
I have a long list in Nuendo o which resolution/format to use - maybe these are out of sync with the driver?
I try one after the other and it does not work. Hmm… strange!

Ola

There might be a small fu%/%( up with the driver, its possible. When BM went to driver Rev. 8.xx, they made it uniform for all cards.
Remains from the 7.xx rev. can theoretically have caused some problems.
Try cleaning out all BM references and install the latest 8.xx again.

In Nuendo it is correct to have a lot of formats for output. It simple sets the signal format that the BM card sends to its external device.

Pål

Did a light cleanup and reinstall, but nothing is changed.
Guess I have to go through a deep registry cleanup.
Could it be a problem with the PCIe slot/irq?
Not likely though, but in my system this card is totally useless

Ola

Maybe I can help you out one of these days Ola?
TeamViewer or IRL.

Pål

I’ll give it a last try, but if I can’t solve it then, it would be great with a little help Pål!
I’ll let you know how it turns out

Ola

Will not work here, oh well…

Ola

There card might be in the wrong slot? Then it can behave like this.

Which computer?

The other thing to try is swapping the different modes inside nuendo - AND making sure you have encoded the video to the right mode. I know when I switch between NTSC and PAL videos, I sometimes need to switch back and forth between a couple of modes before my LCD television manages to work out the signal. I’m pretty sure thats my LCD’s prob rather than the intensity… but its interesting (and maybe related?)

For PAL videos, I always encode Prores 422 1280x720 @ 25fps, and it works like a charm with the nuendo video player set up as Blackmagic HD 720p 50, 1280x720.

Hope you get it sorted out soon. Brendan.

Thanks Brendan,
Usually Prores 422 1280x720 @ 25fp here as well… And only setting in Nuendo that sometimes work is the lowest PAL resolution 750 x 420, but usually with wrong aspect ratio :frowning:

Ola

Yes, Pål, something I need to check is to swap the PCIe cards. I somehow remember having such an issue once before.
But then again, I have the memory of a jellyfish…

The computer is a Q6600 8GB, W7 x64

Thanks,
Ola

Which moterhboard?

P

Gigabyte EP35 DS3R
http://www.gigabyte.no/products/page/mb/ga-ep35-ds3r_21/

Swapped the Pcie cards, de- and re-installed several versions of intensity drivers, quicktime…

No chance this will work, the card is out…

Ola

This is strange. The only situations I have ever heard of/experienced where the card doesn’t output video is:
a: wrong PCIe slot
b: DOA card.

Pål

Q: Just for fun. I know you have ProTools as well, did you trey the card there? Just to rule out Nuendo I mean.

P

Can’t run it in Pro tools, BM support only on Mac…
Tried Vegas trial, supposed to work too. It reports “connected” but no video.
Will put in some of the Mac Pros at work, but suspect it to be a broken card :frowning:

Thanks,
Ola
