I must have unset some important MIDI import setting – how do I get the following detached passage to be imported as full eighth notes (perhaps with an associated technique)? Thanks!
You can use Edit->Requantize after import.
Then you might want to do Play->Reset Playback Overrides.
(select the music first)
There are also Quantize settings in the MIDI Import Dialog.

Hm. I could not get either of the commands to make any difference in what is displayed. I’ll try re-importing.
As I said, you have to select the notes first.
