Invisible stave with visible notes - is it possible?

Hi guys!

I really wish I could do this in Dorico as I did in Finale. It’s a reduced stave like 60%. The lines are invisible and the notes are visible. It’s for a lead sheet to indicate basic drum parts or any other stuff like strumming, comping rythm, etc.

Anybody??

Can you use rhythmic cues?

I probably can, but I wouldn’t be able to show what I want, like kick and Hi-hats at the same time. Thanks anyway!

It’s far from ideal, with cues from a drum kit since you have to add one cue for each drum/cymbal. This was the best I could come up with (after a lot of testing). Note the long stem.

Or manually, with a Zero-line Staff and cutaways:

Yes, much better. I was just going to try that @charles_piano

Very nice and elegant solution, @charles_piano!

If I may add, setting the KD and SD “cue” with Voice column index to 1, it would all look more “centred” (if desired…):

You’re perfectly right!

Or same VCI but with Hi-Hat style noteheads:

Someone recently made a font for rhythmic cues with text. Can’t find it now, though.

Edit: Found it.

Wow ! Thank you very much for your help

I’m gonna have to experiment…I don’t even know how to write cues… I’ll start there

Hi! I found my way to get it work! Thanks.

Now I wish I could change the instrument of that player…I know I can but there’s no drumset available. Every instruments are there except for unpitched percs.

Any idea? Thank you

Ah, it’s for playback purposes, I guess? Since it’s a cue, I was only thinking of a graphic solution.

It’s just that I find annoying to hear keyboard while entering notes, I wish I could hear drum pieces instead. :man_shrugging: but otherwise everything is fine! thanks
