iPad+Cubase no Audio

Hi everyone, I have a problem. I’m trying to use my iPad with Cubase to play the instruments I have there. I can connect it, everything is activated, the instrument receives MIDI, but I have no audio. I’ve looked for solutions but nothing works. Can anyone help me with this, please?

Hi,

Do i understand you correct, you want to use instruments from iPad? Are the instruments standalone, or do you use any DAW at iPad (for example Cubasis)?

How is your routing managed (MIDI and Audio)? Do you want to record the Audio back to Cubase?

Hi, thanks for your reply!
I recently bought Cubase Pro. I’ve been a Logic user for many years. Getting started with Cubase is proving difficult, especially with MIDI connections and the overall setup. In Logic, I could connect my iPad and use instruments with an external instrument, and that was it. I can’t get it to work in Cubase. I have a MIDI instrument, and when I play it on my MIDI controller keyboard, I see that Cubase receives MIDI, and the instrument on the iPad does too, but I have no audio in Cubase. What I need to know is exactly how the audio and MIDI connections should be configured for this to work. Yes I want record audio and MIDI in Cubase.

Hi,

I don’t know how it’s implemented in Logic. To me, it sounds like Apple is using a dedicated channel type (or maybe a plug-in) that handles the entire connection internally.

In Cubase, you would need to use a virtual MIDI Port (probably IAC driver) to send the MIDI data from Cubase to iPad. For Audio, you would need to connect the iPad’s Audio Output to your Audio Device. In Cubase you would need an Audio Track.

It’s not as straightforward as you describe it’s in Logic.

Hi again.

Yes, it doesn’t seem difficult. I’ve already done what you suggested, but I still don’t have any audio. Perhaps I’m making a mistake in the process and I’m not noticing it. Thanks for your help, I’ll keep looking and trying. Cheers!
