Thank you very much for the Update to iPad Dorico 6.2.10.
In my case a new issue has been introduced.
Working with iCloud: I can not open the file I have just saved to my iCloud location via “Open or Import file…” - it will result in an error message:
I tried this with other files, same result. I had made sure, those files where definitely downloaded to my iPad.
The only way to access files from within Dorico on iPad seems to be to use the “Open Recent” tab. Unless I have missed some new setting, of course.
I will attach a diagnostic file (after the error message I had to force quit Dorico and open another project to be able to generate the report): Dorico Diagnostics.zip (416.1 KB)
[Edit] I experimented further; the only way to get my original file back, was to go into the Files application, navigate to the Dorico project in my iCloud folder, duplicate it and move it to the On my iPad/Dorico folder - I was able to open that copy.
Unfortunately I have the same problem after updating to the newest version. - It seems that I can open some files, but with others I get the error message…
I hope this gets solved quickly because most of my files are based on the same template and I basically cannot work on my files with the app anymore.
Unfortunately, this does not work reliably on my I-Pad. Strangely just renaming one file has let me open one file. But it does not work for other files… Maybe, the new update is more picky about the kind of file that you want to open. Maybe more instruments or changes to the standard template… It‘s quite unfortunate that the app does not work reliably in the past few weeks…
I’m experiencing the same issue after the last update 6.2.10.6080.
Basically all my files throw the same error message: “Error opening file”. I can’t work on any of my files at all! All these files are for sure on the device, never have them in iCloud. And no workaround has helped me so far.
This is a major issue, I hope Steinberg will treat it with the required urgency.
I’ve emailed Juan privately, and we’ve identified one issue here, which is that projects with a comma in the filename will not open correctly. We’ll look at fixing this, of course, but for the time being it should be possible to work around this by renaming the files in the Files app.
I would be interested to hear from the people in this thread whether this is the cause of their problem, as it might be that there are other issues that require further investigation.
Richard, I revisited the problematic file, it doesn’t have a comma in its file name. But it lives in a folder in a folder, where there is a comma in the folders name. So there is a comma in the file path, so to say:
[edit] and problem spotted: as an experiment I changed the name of that iCloud folder from “Bach, J.S.” to “Bach J.S.”, thus eliminating the comma. Result: all files in that parent folder can now be opened by Dorico - even by just clicking onto them in the Files app. For me the problem is located
Somehow I am never really happy with having commas in file names, but they should probably be avoided in folder names, too.
Thank you for tagging me! Yes, deleting the comma in the filename or the folder lets me open the file. Thank you. I’ll avoid using them until the issue is fixed.
