Is expression maps applicable for midi instruments

im try to use expression map for the midi instruments ,but not working,plz advice

What exactly doesn’t work? What do you mean by midi instruments?

i created a midi track ,and used my midi keyboard and made a melody ,now when i applied the expression map to it , it is not playing the expressions that i have applied to it,example like trill ,legato etc …

Does the VST Instrument you’re using have all the expression you would like to play? Trill, legato, etc. ? And if yes does the Instrument allow you to switch between the different expressions with by using certain keys (keyswitches) or a Midi-cc?

thank u for the reply.the vst instrument does not have these atriculation,
i only purchased cubase 12 pro…does cubase have any vst instruments with these atriculation ,plz guide ,or how does cubase have these plug ins

If the VST instrument doesn’t have any articulations that get triggered by keyswitches, expression maps are useless.

Expression maps is only a tool to simplify how to tell the VST instrument when to change to which articulation.

I’m not too familiar which cubase 12 stock plugins. Iconica Sketch has instruments with keyswitches but if I recall correctly it’s only included in cubase 13 and higher.
Other than that, I used spitfire audios BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover (its free) for a while, and they also have some articulations that can be controlled with keyswitches.
