I’ve recently tried loading several .mid files, and Slot 1 (Channel 1) is always empty. Sometimes the other MIDI channels load correctly, and sometimes only the acoustic piano is loaded in channels, leaving Channel 1 empty.
The same files load correctly in Cubase 11 with HALion Sonic 7, with Channel 1 containing the intended instrument.

I’ve never had to do that. In a blank Cubase file, I drag a MIDI file and Cubase takes care of the rest.
It loads okay on my system, sorry can’t be more of a help
Steeve, I’ve noticed something I don’t understand. When I load the .mid file into Cubase, the inspector displays HSSE Main as the multi-timbral output. I don’t have HSSE installed.
If I manually insert HALion Sonic as the Rack Instrument, the inspector displays HS Main. Why doesn’t Cubase select HS Main for the .mid file?
Thanks Steve, I deinstalled and reinstalled HALion Sonic 7 and all is OK now. Something probably happens when I updated Cubase, I don’t know. It’s working correctly…
