Is it just me, or is anyone else strangely excited for Cubase/Nuendo 15?

As we already know that sb is always simultaneously working on (using now as an example) Cubendo 15, 16, 17 as completely separate projects…..and cutting-edge machine-learn-non-music-underlying-code-projects from other companies do the same…..yeah….sb probably has various work going on internally for various kinds of rebuild addressing the long game.

For me personally, I don’t generally historically have version issues…. 14 is just fine, and as to 15, no -out-of-the-ordinary excitement…. I’ll upgrade on the day of release…..

….but my focus will be on my trip to the Yamaha ballroom at January Namm to observe/discuss how the guys there (Yamaha guys at the dm/cubase area) and Greg at the Cubase/sb dedicated desk (yeow I hope not next to the drum sets like last year) are presenting Cb15…..and if I’m lucky…..they may be yakking a bit on some of what’s in store for April 2026 Nuendo 15.

I’m actually glad that Cubase and Nuendo major releases again have release dates way apart from each other.

Alrighty then, are we going to get Cubase 15 this week on Nov 5?

Earlier I predicted that it would be delayed a couple weeks due to the 14.0.40 issues, but then again, I kind of WANT Steinberg to still release Cubase 15 on Nov 5 (assuming that was the original plan).

I feel kind of silly saying that, since my RATIONAL, MATURE brain would actually prefer them to spend more time polishing it. BUT the teenager part of my brain (yes, I have a few dumb but creative brain cells that survived from decades ago), still wants it on Nov 5! Yeah, I’m feeling some excitement….

I’ll be checking multiple times on Nov 5 like an idiot.

And please, Steinberg. Please, please, PLEASE be the year of click-and-drag ripple editing!

I’m literally fantasizing about it right now like a teenager dreaming for the latest video game console for Christmas. Just give me ripple editing, and I promise I won’t ask for another feature request again, for at least another 5 years!

Can I get a ripple?! R-I-P-P-L-E. Ripple, ripple, ripple! Let’s RIPPLE! Crossing all my fingers, and I already sent my wishlist to Santaberg.

(Note: If I don’t get ripple editing this year, I will survive, like I always do… and I’m sure there will be something excellent in there, but until Nov 5 - or whenever C15 is released - I’ll be DREAMING of ripple editing!)

Apprehensive . . .

14 was an awesome update, and the complimentary plugins are very nice and appreciated. I seriously love that you get a smörgåsbord of cool plugins when you upgrade.

I just hope 15 doesn’t have any AI except for doing mundane tasks. To be blunt, no stupid flashy things for people with no ambition or integrity.

Not quite sure how that point could be made a selling point - but that’s a primary reason I use Cubase - it’s like a haven. Quite like Reaper. Another reason is people who use this software seem relatively “clued up” (I myself am not particularly to be honest).

I’m young and trying to enter the “music world”. It’s not appreciated that some softwares may converge towards encouraging laziness or ignorance through more simplistic or watered down tools - which could well lead to less diverse end results in music - and less collaboration. That is the antithesis of what I see as Cubase/Dorico community.

If 15 disallows W10 AND is not on Linux I won’t upgrade. But I would stay on 14!

Rant over!

On a positive note, I love the Cubase + Dorico tutorials on YT (including Dom’s Cubase ones) - I enjoy choosing a random one and learning something new. I hope Steinberg keep that up.

Can we not disable copilot and use a browser other than edge?

I haven’t read the fine print of the info MS gathers and shares, but I agree it’s of concern if it ‘learns’ from everything we do with, and near the machine and hoards or shares it all.

Yes, you can do both.

You can change the default browser in the Windows settings. I’m using Vivaldi, Edge and Chrome are basically completely disabled.

Very unlikely a W10 disallows, but possible removed from supported list. Eg, it works but you will not get any support.

It probably doesn’t. It would be a massive issue for MS if that’s how it worked. Just consider all the other professions using Windows and related apps, from lawyers to accountants to journalists to health care professionals and so on. If MS was literally “hoarding” or “sharing it all” there would be massive lawsuits incoming in a split second, from much more “important” customers than us.

Cubase is pretty rock solid for me! Very stable software.

But i want Clip Launcher and more modulators. Playing live shows and DJing directly in Cubase is my dream!

Not a feature I’d remotely use.

I’ll agree to let sb add for you …only if they also add hi-res yellow vu meters in place at each fader in the entire shebang (like the hi-res yellow fake vu on each channel of ssl oracle).

Alas though, whatever Cubase 15 is….it already is.

The team has likely already transitioned focus to Cubase 16 in the past 60 days or so.

If I were betting on anything, I’d wager there are some cb15 invisible engine tweaks and as features go…..folders as groups likely.

I promise you’d fall in love with it! Click-and-drag ripple editing is like butter on toast. Once you have it, you can’t go back.

As much as I try to delete it from my systems, I keep Reaper installed JUST because of ripple editing (even though I do most work in Cubendo due to other features). And ripple editing in the montage mode of WaveLab is almost as good as Reaper. Anyway, I don’t think I’ll get it in C15 so I keep my expectations in check, but I can still hope for it!

Awesome, I’ll agree to your terms! Hear that Steinberg?! Let’s get hi-res yellow vu meters too!

Only a few more days (or weeks!) to find out! The anticipation builds!
