hey everyone,
I have a question regarding adding text notes or information to MIDI Events.
So far, the only method I’ve found is using the Info Line to add text for each MIDI clip, but it’s not ideal. The Info Line doesn’t allow for multiple lines of text, and you can’t press Enter to create a new line, so it’s a kinda restrictive. Also, if I want to add detailed notes for multiple clips, it becomes a little bit clumsy.
btw, I know about Notepad in the inspector, but this adds notes for the entire track rather than for individual MIDI event, which isn’t what I’m looking for.
I want to add specific text notes or personal information to each MIDI event ( list of todos, observations, etc…) without cluttering the track itself. Is there a way to do this?
Hi,
You can use the Text field in the Info Line. You can also Paste a multi-line text, but it’s always displayed as one-line.
The same applies to the Text MIDI Message, which you can add in the List Editor.
I believe you are searching for an annotation event. And I think it has been requested already. Please, search for it and support the request. Feel free to make a new one if you don’t find it.

Thank you @Northunder, I even got criticized for requesting it, some users like to stick with alternative methods and they expected me to do the same, take paper notes, use a marker track, make empty tracks to use as comments, etc.
My request was simply set a sticky from beat 30 to 35, on that particular track cause that’s exactly where I need to remember to change something.
Well, there’s always more than one opinion, which is good. Let’s see how Steinberg treats this request.
Hi,
Please, add the optional feature-request tag.
