I didn’t require this functionality before and I don’t use it now. But it IS on my way now and literally kills the buzz. I use clone clips a lot in my production and it’s kinda bummer.
Can this be disabled?
Yes it can, or you could modify it to use another key/combo.
Preferences / Tool Modifiers / Select Tool / Set Position.
If you click first and then hold down alt/shift it wont move the playhead, but I can see how that might be irritating.
