Hi all, and specially Robin.
The arrival of Spectralayers 11 and some days using it has left me in awe.
I see its amazing potential for a VERY powerful dialogue editing workflow, much in consonance with the demands of ever decreasing budgets and production audio quality in my part of the biz.
The main thing for me is: ARA2 SUCKS, theres no other way to put it.
For me it has always been full of bugs, instability and it inevitably drives projects to a crawl, whenever I try to edit events with extensions or have too many events “open”.
So I must keep bouncing stuff, otherwise I will either lose work to a crash, a bug, or an unoperable session. I really don’t see the point of it, as it stands now.
This has been going on for ever, and I don’t really see it becoming better anytime soon.
Would it be possible to implement a different workflow?
I was thinking something of a hybrid between RX Connect and ARA2.
We send audio to be edited on the standalone, and we send it back to nuendo, but the standalone version always keeps the edits open. So whenever we want to make a change, we can always go into DOP, apply it again, and find the open edits we left on the standalone, make the changes we want, save it, go back to nuendo, apply them, and so on. I don’t care if it creates double the files.
This would really be a dream… cause then we would even be able to finally have SL on a key command… sad laugh
Do you think this is something that could be implemented just from SL side, Robin? I know that if it involves the Nuendo Behemoth Slug it will never happen. But maybe if the vst3 plugin could be ported from ProTools, and the standalone program could be made to keep a saved session of the file, creating a ghost export to be sent to DOP, maybe it will be easier.
Do you think this is possible? How could I help? I don’t want to go back do RX, please please please… I want layers… I’m hooked!!
Thanks!
