I have three OT Soundpacks, Opaline, the newest one Khosso, and Dagu. I’ve been wondering if it’s useful to make expression maps for them given that some sections consist of a single sample, mainly an fx. There’s no question that they are an essential tool for film score mockups in a DAW but do fx samples have a place in notation? In the case of Khosso it does include very unique instruments, the pitched Balafon and the unpitched Dholak which could easily have expression/percussion maps, likewise Dagu (which I use together with Phoenix Orchestra) so arguably those are the parts that warrant attention. What do others think?
