Is it worth getting UR22C in 2025?

I’m considering options to buy my first audio interface ($200-250). Arturia MiniFuse 2 or Steinberg UR22C. I’m most interested in the UR22C, but I’m hesitant to buy it because its input dynamic range is 102 dB, while competitors offer around 110 dB for about the same price. However, it’s probably only option in this price range that features 32 bit + DSP.

It’s difficult to answer yes or no to this kind of question. Personally, I’ve been using UR22 for over 10 years, and it’s still an interface that meets my needs. It’s even recognized by the Linux distribution I use in dual boot (Ubuntu Studio/Windows) without me having to do anything.

I have no plans to change this interface at all as long as it’s supported by Steinberg/Yamaha. It’s certainly not a bad choice; whether it’s the best value for money considering durability, I don’t know; that’s up to you to evaluate.

Good luck!

I have a ur22c but have replaced it with a focusrite gen 3 2i2. They are simple to install drivers for and you have access to quite a bit of free software. The focusrite recordings I have done are crystal clear and better than the Steinberg in my opinion. The new gen 4 is a slight improvement over gen 3 so I would choose that.

Look at Julian Krause technical reviews and comparisons of interfaces. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

The UR44c is ok for basic use. Exceptional even but for anything above that ie. Mid Professional use, Id say it falls flat. The Yamaha included software is literally useless and uncustomizable. No routing options and you have to purchase a proper usb c cable to get rid of the wall plug.

Do you think the preamps and ad/da converters sound bad compared to something a little more expensive?
