Is it worth upgrading to Cubase 15 from Cubase 11?

I am currently using Cubase 11 and I am quite happy about it, but friends telling me I should upgrade because I have some performance issues even though my machine should run it easily .. - (96GB memory and Ultra 7 265k)

I tried to look around in google and I saw nothing about performance differences, nor utilizing a GPU or more cores or anything really, I know its a major leap but I am trying to understand what I am practicdally getting, in both features and performances ..

My main concern is upgrading to an heavy software with AI features and no GPU support that will make things even worse ..

So what’s the major differneces I should expect by upgrading?
What are the key features and performances upgrades from 11 to 15? and is it worth waiting a year for the next version (16) or just go as is?

Thanks a lot! <3

There’s a truly immense difference between 11 and 15, that’s not an exaggeration. Whether you’ll benefit from those differences is entirely up to you and how you like work. It’s a lot of work to write down the differences here, so use whatever-AI-you-use to sum them up for you as a starting point (it does get things wrong, but with this it should be relatively accurate).

Performance-wise, I couldn’t tell you…I’m sure 15 is much more efficient, though Mac users definitely have the shorter end of the stick on that front, from my own experience on both platforms.

My own advice is to wait for the next C15 update because there are some issues that make it not usable for me…but you might work in a way where those things aren’t an issue for you.

Do a trial, there’s no one on a forum who can answer this question for you since they aren’t you!

On your exact computer… with your exactly-the-same installed programs…with the exact same heat/humidity in the room where your computer is sitting at your address….in your city….?

There is zero…and zero (I say in the friendliest tone  )….zero way for any human to give you a prediction.

Cb15 has a free trial….download it, install it, and give it a spin for a couple of months.

From that, you’ll have your answer from the most reliable person you know

I have no idea if the new features will benefit you in any way. But, it might be worth considering an update, if for no other reason, to free yourself from the USB-eLicenser.

If you are happy, don’t change. Many things have changed and you may or may not like it.

That said, tons of stuff is fixed and improved…

Just get the demo and try it. You gave 60 days to evaluate.

The one major difference that you will immediately notice is that the GUI has changed a lot (not in all areas, there are still some parts left from SX days). It has been debated a lot, some people like it, some really don’t. Definitely takes some days to get used to, as always with GUI changes…

But again, only way to find out is to demo it.

Cubase 15 is fantastic, but I have had a lot of issues since Windows installed MIDI 2 update. I would go so far as to say that here, Cubase 15 does not work reliably with Win 11 25H2.
I spoke to Steinberg they say the fix is two updates away.
