Is the C7 Integrated Loudness meter gated?

I can’t find any information on this in the manual;

Is the Integrated Loudness Meter value in Cubase 7 gated in any way? (So as the average does not account for quiet passages in the program.)

If not, how do you guys use this meter for music? Maybe run integrated loudness on only the louder passages?

No gating…the average loudness of the whole program material is what this meter needs to show for helping to meet broadcast standards.

There is also a momentary loudness to give you an idea of loudness at a particular point in your program material.

For music use…I personally wouldn’t use it, the peak meter combined with a VU plug is more useful imo.

What about when catering to services like iTunes Radio, Spotify & the like which are now using normalization by default? (iTunes being -16.5 LUFS, for example)
