Is there a better way to Save multi-layered Instrument tack

Hey all,

I wanted to know if there is a better approach to save multi-layered instrument tracks in Cubase than what I m currently doing

This is my workflow: I’m layering sounds across multiple tracks: let’s say one track is a VSTi, another is a different VSTi, and the third might be an audio sampler track. To manage this, I:

  1. Save my samples to a location on my computer.
  2. Select all the tracks together and export them as a track archive (using File > Export > Selected Tracks).
  3. I make sure all the layered tracks are routed to a single group track, and I have a MIDI track controlling them as a group (just like I used to do in Ableton when working with parallel chains).

Then, when I need this setup in a new project, I just go to File > Import Track Archive and bring in everything I saved.

This method works, and I’ve been experimenting with it for the last couple of weeks, but I was asking myself if there is a more efficient approach in Cubase for handling this type of setup, where I want to save and reuse multi-layered instrument tracks ? Or should I just stick with this method?

Thank you

Using Track Archives is what I would do.
Is there anything about that process that you are missing?

Thank you. @mlib
I have the impression it is too long. But yeah maybe because I was used to another DAW where this functionlaity is more optimised.

Your intuition is correct in that this could be better handled by Cubase. Currently, Track Presets do not retain routing, so you’re forced to use a Track Archive to save your particular “multi,” which is not recognized by MediaBay, making recall less than seamless.

Select the tracks then export, it takes less than 5 seconds, how would it be possible to make it simpler? How does it handle it the other DAW?

Studio One treats it like a Track Preset. Or rather, its track presets retain routing configurations. The issue isn’t in the export process, it’s in recalling those track archives.

I see.
As a workaround If you usually send to the same group you can create a simple PLE to apply to all selected tracks and with just a click you get it solved…
