Is there a ruler in Dorico?

Hello, I have been using DORICO for a year now and I must say that I am satisfied. The more I use it, the more I realise how complicated many of the functions in FINALE were, whereas now they have become very simple. However, there is one thing I still haven’t been able to do. After finishing a project and moving on to TYPOGRAPHY, I would like to have a RULER available so that I can be more precise when positioning objects on the page. FINALE had this feature, but it doesn’t seem to be available here. I still use DORICO 5 pro. Perhaps it is available in the new version?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Thank you.

Romeo

This is what FINALE looked like.

Yes, in Engrave mode in Dorico 6.

And, as one can see from Jesper’s image, there is also a grid, which you may find even more useful.

Until it’s developed further, I think calling it a ruler is over-egging it a bit. It basically shows the location of the mouse pointer on both the x and y axis.

Hopefully there’s more functionality on the way - rulers as lines on the page, the ability to snap to those lines (and the grid). Setting ruler lines by snapping them to the T/B/L/R of objects would be good, too.

No, it’s definitely a ruler. What you’re asking for, @David_Tee, is guides. (Which we may well implement in a future version of the software.)

Apologies Daniel - I stand corrected.

Yup, guides would be good.
