I mean, completely from scratch, step-by-step, including if you don’t have an expression map to upload and Cubase can’t import the expression maps from the instrument itself (using Sforzando, for example). I’ve been years on Cubase and for some reason never used expression maps, so it’s all rather new here. Dom’s video doesn’t help, and the manual is very obtuse about it.
Hoping there’s a much more detailed vid of this out there because the manual is not clear to get through, for me.
Hi - whilst you wait for that (I don’t know of one to point you to myself, sorry), have a look at this thread and the browser based tool the poster made; may help get you started on actually creating maps.? It’s possible you need something even more basic, to explain the fundamentals, first… (which I’m no expert in)

Thank you, will check that out.
- create a new empty expression map
- for each expression you want to be able to use in that instrument
- create a new slot, pick from the list of articulations that best represents the instrument articulation
- add an output action, which must map what the virtual instrument expects
Curious to hear where you get stuck with this approach.
The output section was what was mainly throwing me off. It’s all brand new to me, felt weird to use at first.
