Is there a way to Bypass folder creation when saving a new project?

Hi, is there a way I can just create a new project from a template, without having to create a new folder with the project name?

Often my customers send me audio before they’ve decided on the name of their project and I used to be able to load a project template, load in audio - and then save it where I wanted, later on.

Now I have a new project dialogue box that forces me to create a folder when I already have one - any guidance is welcome!

You cannot bypass folder creation. However, you can give a temporary name. Later, but when the project is closed, you can simply rename it in the file explorer.

I’m pretty sure what you’re asking to do is still possible, and it’s how I work.

Back in WaveLab 12 an option was introduced that will copy all files to a new folder when you insert them into a montage. This is for users that need their hand held instead of manually handling file management like we had to do prior to WaveLab 12.

I think this option is on by default but you can turn it off for good which is what I have done. The problem is that I did it so long ago I can’t remember now but maybe @PG1 can explain it better.

The main issue is that with this setting enabled, it forces you to crate the montage file and file path so that WaveLab knows where to copy the files to.

Again, you can still work the old way where WaveLab does not copy the files to a new folder and instead just references the original files which I how I prefer to work.
