My client wants a General MIDI file, but also I need to send him VST playback.
Sending a MIDI export with all the Expression Maps turned off seems to give him what he’s looking for. This is a 104 minute symphonic project, I’m going to need to do this frequently. My workflow will be to export the flow and disable all the Expression Maps, then export the MIDI.
Is there way to turn off all the Expression Maps at once? Or do I need to go through and do em one at a time?
I found a workaround for this. My symphonic score is 100% HALion, which uses a pair of VST multis, so after changing all the Expression Maps to Default or CC11 it was quick to create Endpoints for each instance, then bring those into a Playback template, which I can quickly apply next time. I also learned that if you save Endpoints with Expression Maps removed, then create a Playback Template with those, Dorico will replace the blank Expression Maps with whatever it has stored in its Auto Endpoints.
Intentional replacement is the way to go for this..
