Is there a way to disable the annoying "delete by moving to the side" feature?

This drives me up the wall and is the biggest time waster in Cubase.

Whenever I edit events (the little chopped pieces of audio) and try to move them or stretch crossfade, literally every other time I end up with the part I try to move just disappearing. I assume it’s some idiotic feature meant to allow to delete events this way? If so, it’s the goddamn dumbest braindeadest most useless feature in the world.

It gets really bad when my computer is lagging moving the events because of too many parts (or who knows why) in the project then the whole moving/stretching become an exercise in frustration and anger, because things disappear then I have to undo last move just to get them back and so on and so forth.

Is there a way to disable this stupid idiotic feature?

(sorry about emotions, but I’m at my wits end with this)

I’ve never run into that “feature.”

Which OS and version of Cubase are you on?

You’re talking about edits in the project window?

does it still happen if you deactivate snap?

Are we talking about editing multiple events at the same time? Because there are certainly some got-cha’s with that ..

Can you do a screen capture quick video (no audio needed) of performing a few of these edits, just so we can see the context of things?

Because that would make it a scream capture, right? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Maybe “delete overlaps” in the Settings / Preferences is switched on?

OK, I figured out how to reproduce the issue you describe (and avoid it), after reading @steve 's comment.

If you don’t have Snap enabled it won’t happen. If you want to use Snap, you can–but you need to have the Grid Type set to either “Use Quantize” or “Adapt to Zoom.” It does disappear if you’ve got it set to the Beat or Bar options.

Thank you, I’ll try that. Appreciate it. :+1:
