Is there a way to isolate "Replace Events" to only selected events?

I’m referring to the option of holding Shift + Alt (windows) while dragging an audio file from the Pool onto an audio clip in the arrangement. My Goal is as follows:

The above is the same Kick, lets call it Kick_001.

As you can see, I have them on two separate tracks because I want to replace the second set with a different audio file, called Kick_002. If I use the “Replace Events” method and drag a new kick onto one of the bottom kicks, and select the “all” option, it will replace ALL of the kicks in that image, not just the ones on the bottom track.

Is there an easy way to get this to work? Replace Events disregards track versions and will overwrite all of the kicks regardless if the track version is hidden, etc.

The method I have been using is to cut (ctrl + x) the files I do NOT want replaced, then replace the remaining kicks, and paste the files back. This works in some cases but not all - for example if I had more kicks later in the project that I did not want replaced, I would have to find them all, etc.

Note: render in place (or bounce selection) will not work because it will either create a single audio file containing the entire range of kicks, OR it will create individual kicks each with their own unique file. I do not want this because then “replace events” will only replace one kick at a time.

The reason I want something this specific is because when I do kick rolls, or change clip position, etc., “replace events” maintains all of those changes.

Anyway, any suggestions?

Unfortunately there has been no resolution since 2022…

Hey Steinberg, can ya’ll add features people ask for instead of breaking things like the color options between versions that no one asked for? That’d be great. -_-

P.S. Locking elements or freezing tracks doesn’t help either.
