hey guys,
In Cubase when you create a part on a track it can take the track color
but what if you already have parts and then change the track color later
right now i have to select the parts and manually set event color to track color
is there a way to make the parts update automatically when i change the track color .I m not talking about new parts, I know there’s an option for that , this is more about having existing parts automatically update their color when the track color changes.
Hi,
Select the MIDI/Audio Part/Event, open the Set Color for selected Tracks or Events, and click on the Set Event Color to Track Color.
Thanks Martin for the reply and taking the time. That’s actually something I already use, but like I mentioned, you still have to do it manually every time you change the track color.
What I was asking is if there’s a way for parts to automatically follow the track color change , like for example if I change the track to green, all parts on it turn green right away without needing to select them and apply "Set Evebt Color to Track Color "
I was basically just wondering if there’s a setting in for that somewhere in the preferences, but I couldn’t find anything. Anyways, all good though
That’s actually the default if you don’t assign different colors to selected parts or events. Once a part or event gets an individual color, it doesn’t follow the track color changes any longer. However, if you reset the color with “Set Event Color to Track Color”, the default behavior is restored.
Oh I didn’t realize that, thanks for pointing it out That makes a lot more sense now. So basically, if you never manually change the part colors, they will always follow the track color, even when you change the track color later And the only time that gets interrupted is when you give a part its own color
Really good to know. I probably just never noticed that before, but now that I understand it better, I think that behavior is perfect as it is.
Keep in mind that you have to deselect all events first by clicking on an empty space in the project window if you want to apply the track’s colour to all events/parts.
Yeah, that’s totally right and really important to point out , especially for beginners or people not familiar with that tool yet. I remember back in the days when I was trying to figure that out, it was a complete mess. Thanks for mentioning it, REALLY worth noting .
