I want to layer multiple Instruments on the same Miditrack. I know I can send the signal to one VST and four more as midi sends. Is there any chance to add more than those 5 Layers on one miditrack?
No. You can however use one of your 5 destinations to rout to another MIDI Track for another 5, and continue stacking as needed after that.
An alternative would be to get a Virtual MIDI Cable like LoopBe (there are a bunch out there). Route your MIDI to that and it will appear in Cubase like any other external MIDI source.
I think the Virtual Cable is the better approach.
Very cool Tipps.
Both sound interesting. I think it depends on how many Layers I finally need rely on the same mididata. As far there are just a few more than 5, the first solution might even be smarter, since all stays inside Cubase. Whenever there will be notable need for more Layers, the Virtual Cable will be probably a bit more powerful.
Thank you for that great response!
I don’t think it matters much either way if the data stays in Cubase. After all lots of folks use external Instruments & nearly everyone external controllers.
I have 2 Virtual Cables built into my Templates. One is dedicated to routing the Chord Track freely to any destination and the other is for more general ad hoc use.
