Is there any reason to retain my eLicenser dongle?

I have moved all my licenses from my eLicenser to Steinberg Licensing. All my registered software works as expected. Is there any reason to retain the Dongle and keep the eLicenser program on my PC?

The eLicenserControlCenter will remain on your system. However, it just idly sits there and doesn’t take up much storage or any CPU.

You can remove the eLicenser and put it away somewhere safe in case you want to work with a previous product that requires it at some time in the future.

Just so I’m clear… the eLicenser Dongle that I have is Steinberg specific?

I understand by your answer that the software does not take up any resources. Is there any reason not to remove the eLicenser software if I don’t have any particular use (or future use) for it?

Yes, the eLicenser dongle is maintained by the eLicenser Control Center only.

If you remove it the Download Assistant will automatically reinstall it, because at the moment there are dependencies between eLicenser and the new Steinberg licensing.

That will probably change after the shutdown of the server infrastructure, but for now just leave it where it is and ignore it. As @Reco29 said it is tiny and is not even started, unless you do that.

The main reason to keep your old licenses is so that you can still use older versions of the software you bought that do not support the new licensing.
