Steinberg has never sold merch at all to the best of my knowledge - strange, indeed. Nevertheless, Dom Sigalas managed to get his hands on coloured Steinberg hoodies and T-Shirts and, as we all know, Matthias Quellmann wears his lucky Steinberg socks on release days. I guess these were limited edititions and not for purchase.
I think it would be cool if Steinberg sold merch alongside their existing products on their website. I’m sure there’s demand. If they washed the apparel with fabric softener it’d be a decent softwear solution.
Imagine you wear a Cubase t-shirt in a public place, let’s say as an attendant to a Moto-GP. And it was somewhere in the world, let’s say in the Netherlands. And as you watch motorcycles cycling around the track all of a sudden someone in the crowd approaches you, says hi, and starts to ask you to do technical support for them.
Surely, just a fever dream? By the way, Steinberg sold some merchandise in the 90’s.
Following this train of thoughts, I’d be more concerned wearing a “Nivea” t-shirt in case one of the drivers approached me asking to treat their sore parts…
Haha, we managed to derail this dead 12 year-old thread within a day. Excellent!
BTW: Steinberg sold merch in the 90s? Do you remember what kind of merch?
Interesting, I have never come across any kind of merch.
FWIW, I just found out that online shops like Temu & AliExpress sell Steinberg/Cubase T-Shirts. I wouldn’t be surprised if this wasn’t “explicetly” authorised by Steinberg, though.
If Steinberg started again to offer merch it would surely be appreciated. Cool logo, streamlined CI and branding - what’s not to like? No idea why they pass on an opportunity like that. Steinberg’s ways remain mysterious to the common user.
