Issue: Are Folder mutings working as they should?

Here, in the first pic, I show a muted (open) simple folder. Inside is a track which is active and sounds. Is this right? Seems counter-intuitive to me. Surely if a folder is muted then it’s contents are all muted? But no… What does muting a folder mean if it does not mute it’s contents?

Further, Pic 2. When the Folder Track is closed (and the folder muted, but not the track), it still sounds and the active track disappears from all the mixers, but STILL creates sounds, yet no activity in the track list mini meters (far right). Pic 2.

Consequences:
1 You can have a track that is making sounds which cannot be seen either in the mixer or the project zone or anywhere else. There are no visible indicators anywhere as to the source of the sound.

2] This means if you leave a track open and forget about it, when closiong a folder, it can change your mix accidentally and you are none the wiser.

3] If you open a project and have mysterious tracks sounding with nothing displayed in the mixer, tracking this issue down is a matter of opening all your folders and subdfolders and playing hunt the thimble. A big waste of time especially when you use subfolders.

Hi,
#1 - when muting a regular folder track, it is not like a group folder that the audio is directly routed through it. It acts more like a toggle switch to turn on/off the sub-tracks.

To me this behavior all works as it should and allows for complex folders with various track muted/unmute, and when you mute/unmute the Folder nothing changes with relative mute status.

But it is not doing this. You can mute a regular folder and still have an active track within it, creating sounds. You can close the folder and the sound plays and sometimes (only sometimes), the track plays, or does not appear in the mixer, until it is disables then re-enabled (my workaround).
In it’s most annoying incarnation this can mean that you can close down a project, and find when you return to hit play next session, you have random tracks playing in folders that are closed and not showing that they are the culprit. Nothing showing in the mixer to help.

I have been with Cubase since 93, there is some counterintuitive oddities going on.

Two zones of issues:

Folders: With an active track within, muting a regular folder does not mute the track.

Tracks vanishing from Mixer: Sometimes tracks do not appear in the mixer, even though they are visible and active in the project zone.

I use visibility and disabling tracks a lot. I work with disabled templates and track archives. I think the issue is not helped by this. I will watch this more.
