Issue bug with phase cancellation on Audio tracks

Bit of an odd issue I have here could somone please try to replicate.

If I move audio unrelated(the flipped phase tracks) to whats actually being played the Phase cancellation of 2 identical tracks breaks.

1 Duplicate a track

2 flip phase on the new one, now you get silence

3 Copy a bit of audio in the phase reversed track and paste somewhere, not where you playback obviously, now the phase cancellation doesnt work anymore and there will be a signal coming through. Here is the weird one, move the pasted audio around and you can get phase cancellation working again but it’s very random.

Might have create a video as I’m not sure it’s clear whats happening

So you have audio events on a track from bars 20 to 40 (say), you copy that track and flip the phase, resulting in silence between those two tracks. Now you copy another audio event to bar 50 of the flipped phase track, and bars 20 to 40 no longer null? Is that right?

Yes pretty spot on. This could be a major issue if you run parallel processing with duplicate tracks and have a few edits like removing breaths etc. It’s no phase aligned anymore

OK. I won’t be in the studio until tonight. I’ll give it a try then and see if I can replicate.

I can reproduce it somewhat in C14, but only if the event has some AudioWarp edits. And if I stop and start the playback, it again nulls perfectly, so it seems only temporary.

I tried this tonight but was only able to do so on Nuendo 14.0.41.

I can confirm the behaviour and it is repeatable. Moving the flipped phase event about a little bit and then back to its original location re-establishes the phase cancellation. But if I then move the ‘added’ event around, the phase cancellation gets broken again.

Have you tried stopping and starting playback? As I wrote, in C14 that fixed the phase problem.

Yep, you’re right. Restarting playback resets the phase alignment.
