Every once in a while, I will load a project, and Cubase will randomly reassign output busses to Main (the main stereo out of Cubase).
This usually becomes very apparent in the mix, so I know when this happens, and I will then just look at what is routed into main and route those channels back where they belong (it’s easy for me to tell because in all of my projects, there’s only one channel that’s routed into Main, so if there’s more than one, this will be a manifestation of that bug).
This only happens after opening a project that was previously saved, and I am 100% certain that I am not “accidentally” rerouting these channels.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any reproduction steps, since this (luckily) happens rarely, and I don’t do anything except for opening a previously saved project.
Perhaps the fact that this only happens with channels being rerouted to Main (not to any other channels) will be a clue as to where the issue is.
This is a serious enough issue that I had to isolate my Main by creating a channel called Stereo Out that’s routed into Main and that I use as a “fake” Main, and before printing a mix, I always check the routing into Main to make sure there’s only Stereo Out going in. If I see any other channels routed into it, I know that this bug hit me.
