Issue: Duplex printing not working with latest HP driver

I recently updated the driver for my HP Color LaserJet Pro to the Universal PCL driver v7.3.0, and I noticed that duplex printing in Dorico is no longer working. Today I updated to v7.4.0, which just came out a few days ago, and it is still not working.

If I choose “Both sides automatically”, which used to work fine (and which works in other applications), Dorico prints everything single-sided. If I choose “Both sides manually”, Dorico prints single-sided and then prompts me to turn over the pages (and prints nothing on the reverse).

Note: I was previously using the specific driver for this printer, but that driver has other issues and has not been updated in 4 years. The universal driver, which is supposed to work with any HP printer, gives me better results overall – except for this apparent issue with Dorico.

Fixed by rolling back to an older (v6.4.1) version of the universal driver.

My understanding is that Dorico asks Qt to check if the printer supports duplex before it will send a duplex command. Whether the issue with the current driver is HP’s fault or Qt’s fault, I can’t say.
