I’m experiencing a curious playback issue with dynamics.
In the example below, there is no change of dynamic marking at any point (all signposts are visible), and the Dynamics lane likewise shows no change in dynamic value. Despite this, there is a very noticeable and clearly audible increase in volume from the third 8th note onwards during playback.
I’ve tried re-entering the notes, but the problem persists. I’m using NotePerformer, though this behaviour occurs only at this specific location in the score, which suggests there’s something I’ve inadvertently overlooked. However, after checking for hidden dynamics, playing techniques, and other obvious causes, I can’t see anything that would explain the sudden change in playback level.
Has anyone encountered anything similar, or can spot what I might be missing?
If I change the dynamic in the Dynamics lane window, the issue persists - there is a change of dynamic where none is marked or required.
Great idea, Derrek… I’ll check this out and report back.
Curiously, the score runs to some 100 mins and this is the only place where there is an issue. That said, having spent some considerable time trying to pin down the problem, I’m very willing to give anything a go!
In case this helps anyone else, the issue turned out to be a change to CC11.
What puzzles me is that I’ve never opened the CC11 lane, so I have no idea how those values could have been altered. If anyone can explain how CC11 values can be changed without explicitly opening that lane in the Properties panel, I’d be very interested to know.
I found the same issue on a doubled instrument (trombone, on a different stave), which makes me suspect I must have accidentally triggered some keyboard shortcut or command at some point. If so, does anyone know what that might have been?
