Issue with ensemble picker

I am unable to save custom ensemble in the ensemble picker (setup mode) as the ‘save’ button doesn’t get activated. Is there a way to resolve this problem or is this also due to issues with the Qt framework?

The Save button is only enabled when you’re on the Build page of the ensemble picker, not the Choose page.

I tried the Build also but ‘save’ doesn’t appear.

Once you’ve actually added some instruments to the Build page, you’ll then be able to save that set of instruments.

Thanks Daniel, I think I didn’t convey my issue clearly.
What I wish to do is create a new ensemble by modifying an existing custom ensemble (i.e., I wish to add some more instruments in the existing ensemble to create a new one), in this case, when I go to the Build page, it appears that only the instruments I add will appear in the new ensemble template and not the existing instruments plus the additional ones.
Hope I was able to convey my problem this time around.

Here’s how to do that:

  1. Switch to the Build page of the ensemble picker.
  2. Type the name of the custom ensemble so that the instruments from that custom ensemble are added to the builder.
  3. Add whatever instruments you want to add.
  4. Click Save to save the edited ensemble.

Thanks a lot Daniel, its clear to me now.

I have created some custom instruments and would like to combine them into an ensemble, however, they do not appear in the Ensemble Picker BUILD dialogue when I put in their names. It seems the Ensemble Picker does not include all the possible instruments, rather generic names - This seems a bit limiting - surely you should be able to select any instrument to combine into an ensemble?

Yes, this is an oversight. The ensemble picker is only able to show instruments from the default factory library. At least in the short term we’ll be limited in which custom instruments we can show, since it’s already the case that you can’t e.g. differentiate between different transpositions of clarinet or horn in the ensemble builder, but I agree that you should at least be able to create custom instruments if they have unique names. I’ll look into this as soon as I get a chance.

Thank you, Daniel. It’s certainly not urgent for me. The ability to create custom instruments is excellent, so it will be nice when we can combine them into an ensemble for quick access.
