I currently use internal MIDI to control my global media module (video) to turn it on between songs and turn it off while we play to have a background video looping. This works a charm 80% of the time.
However, sometimes (and I cant figure out why), the MIDI trigger works to trigger the global module and the play button is deselected and turns to ‘off’, but the video still plays and is visible on screen.
See the attached video, the play button is ‘off’ and the button is not highlighted (the MIDI trigger worked to turn it off), and yet the video still plays (currently clashing with the ‘track’ video that is also playing). Anyone got any ideas? This a bug or user error?
Ive tried the MIDI trigger as a ‘button’ and ‘on/off’ but still get same random cop outs. Doubly annoying as when this happens it inverts the video playback so for the rest of the show I have two videos playing during songs and a blank screen when Im talking, unless I manually go in and press the button in the media module window.
Hey, any ideas on this? Im using 2.62 now but still getting this issue. The internal MIDI triggers all the right buttons on the global media module and it sais ‘off’ but the darn video is still playing!
It’s been a problem for a while, as I documented here

Maybe because you have the same controller settings applied to multiple actions (quick)? Why is that? Should work, but what if you try different ones?
Yeah similar thing. I have specific midi commands for each quick action and have the inverse problem. Play is ‘off’ but video still playing and clogging up the screen.
In my case I have a midi command linked to global module ‘play’ and ‘stop’. I feel like the play command should play, and the stop command should stop. The action I showed still exists as of a couple versions ago and likely the current versions.
I feel like I should be able to load project, and send midi command to play and it should play. Right now I have go through what I showed in video. Please fix
You can “fix” it yourself, by setting UI type to “Toggle”.

Quick controls for Modules are supposed to be “generic”, and the type is known only to the Module. We’ll check if we can get the Module to provide relevant info.

OK I have found what cause my issue it seems! - Its after a ‘cycle’.
My video trigger works like a charm, until a ‘cycle’ is complete and the video restarts at marker 1 - then the trigger has no effect until I manually go in and press the play button off/on again, then everything works again until the next cycle.
On the video you can see the video starts a new cycle - I then begin a track (off screen) and the midi command is sent. You can see the button deselects and play is set to ‘off’ but the transport bar keeps going and the video (also off screen) keeps playing.
@Spork @musicullum are you able to reproduce that?
Please check again with the next version, there was a problem when cycle finished.

amazing thankyou for looking at this, will check when Im back on Monday!
Hey @musicullum ,
Just tried it out with 2.2.70. Im still getting issues on the cycle. It freezes now when cycling and does not play, just displays static picture (although the timer bar is still moving). It also glitches play on/off. I’ve tried to make a video but the behaviour is a bit erratic. First 30secs or so it is working works as expected, but then I move it up to perform a cycle and it ceases to function correctly.
Should be fixed with the next version (hopefully, today), pls try again. thanks!

Hey @musicullum still getting the same issue on 2.2.73. Once its cycled the global video still plays even when set to ‘off’.
As an aside the first trigger of the show to kick off the video no longer works. If I manually go and open up the module and toggle play on/off/on it starts - then everything functions as normal until the cycle.
Interestingly its now become completely unresponsive, I cant get the video to stop playing no matter what I press in the global module!
Sorry for the multiple posts, just playing with it on my project. Its actually more unstable now - some tracks it now doesn’t switch off before its even cycled. Not sure what’s causing it.
Will check. Fixed a problem and it worked here, but will take another closer look.

Sounds good. Just set up a new project to try again and having the same issues. Both the unresponsiveness of the global player action buttons and the post-cycle unresponsiveness of the midi commands.

Cannot for the…repeat this. Could you provide some step-by-step repro?
That appears to be true, we are checking.
Again, let us know what exactly you did, it all works just fine here (except for quick control).
