I don’t know if this us a feature request or a request to fix a bug (this is re. Cubase 13). I not infrequently stack two synths (both instruments in the rack) which are run by a single MIDI track having its primary output routed to one synth and a MIDI send routing the output to the other synth. If I solo the MIDI track it continues to send events to both rack instruments. However, the audio channel of the second synth is muted - certainly not what I want.
Now maybe there’s a reason that this behavior is warranted, in which case I’d love to see some way to make it behave so that soloing the MIDI track keeps both synths “speaking”. If it is a bug, then please fix, Steinberg.
There is a feature called solo defeat, which forces a channel to stay active regardless which other channels are in a solo state. On Mac you hold option while clicking on the solo button. Windows I’d assume you hold alt while clicking solo. That will prevent that second VST from muting while the other one is solo’d.
Did not know this - useful information to be sure. However, this solution just shifts the problem elsewhere - to when I want to solo some other instrument. Might even make more work.
Have you tried it? If you solo some other track, your MIDI Track with the send will get muted and stop passing data to the instrument that’s fed by the MIDI send.
