Issue with repeating measures (R)

I’ve seen this happen a few times without my understanding why it’s happening. I just took a section of measures in a work I’m writing and wanted to repeat them by selecting everything (including the empty measures, which I’ve made sure have whole rests), having global Insert pressed, and then hitting R. This way I can eliminate the Repeat barlines. Generally, that works great, and when it didn’t, I realized it was because I had not displayed whole rests in empty measures. But in this case, I’m doing all that, and the measures get repeated very far downstream:

Target measures selected:

After hitting R, the selection doesn’t appear adjacent (normal behavior), but is inserted after measure 158 for some reason:

It doesn’t matter if I deleted the repeat barlines or not. It’s not a huge deal since I can just as easily insert 35 empty measures and copy/paste measures 2-35 where I want them. But why is R being odd here? I’ve seen it before so would love to understand it better. Thanks!

I also found that after creating 36 blank measures after measure 36 then selecting measures 2-36 and hitting R, it also repeats it after measure 158, so this is very odd. File attached (work in progress)

I can’t check the project currently but it could be that you have a hidden object in your selection which extends far further than the selection. Pushing R would repeat the selection after that object finishes.

Thanks. Interesting. I have no idea what that might be but will look.

It’s your pedal line in bar 1.

Select it > open Properties > change Continuation Type to Line and you will see that it goes for miles - all the way to bar 158!

Wow-okay then! Did not realize that would push the repeat to there. Odd that it does not mess up repeating a small number of measures, but that’s likely to have either been within the range of the measures covered by the pedal marking (hidden) or afterwards.

In the latest version (I made a few changes after posting it here, including repeating those 35 measures by copying-pasting), the pedal line only extends to measure 42. It should run for the entire piece, so thank you for point all this out so I can make sure the pedaling is sustained. But I will have to keep this in mind for the future if I have a work that involves sustained pedal markings.
