I’ve seen this happen a few times without my understanding why it’s happening. I just took a section of measures in a work I’m writing and wanted to repeat them by selecting everything (including the empty measures, which I’ve made sure have whole rests), having global Insert pressed, and then hitting R. This way I can eliminate the Repeat barlines. Generally, that works great, and when it didn’t, I realized it was because I had not displayed whole rests in empty measures. But in this case, I’m doing all that, and the measures get repeated very far downstream:
Target measures selected:
After hitting R, the selection doesn’t appear adjacent (normal behavior), but is inserted after measure 158 for some reason:
It doesn’t matter if I deleted the repeat barlines or not. It’s not a huge deal since I can just as easily insert 35 empty measures and copy/paste measures 2-35 where I want them. But why is R being odd here? I’ve seen it before so would love to understand it better. Thanks!
I also found that after creating 36 blank measures after measure 36 then selecting measures 2-36 and hitting R, it also repeats it after measure 158, so this is very odd. File attached (work in progress)
