Issue with Tonalic losing link to chord track

Hi - I have been using Tonalic as an insert plug-in for a while and am now trying to use the ARA functionality in the new versions of Cubase / Tonalic.

I’ve set up a chord track, dragged tonalics in from the right zone to empty parts of the project where Cubase created a new track, then dragged the parts across to cover the whole of the chord track.

All works fine… until I save and reopen the project. Now the tonalics only recognise the first part of the chord track (equivalent to the length of a single tonalic) and they keep repeating that, ignoring the subsequent changes in the chord track.

If I glue and unglue all the parts in a particular tonalic track, it goes back to recognising the whole chord track again.

It feels like a bug - but has anyone else experienced it / have a workaround so it doesn’t lose the connection to the chord track whenever I reopen the project?

Cubase 15.0.30, Tonalic 1.0.2.009, PC

Many thanks

Hi - I’ve spent quite a bit of time looking at this - the problem is intermittent but fairly frequent. i.e. quite often when I reopen a project that was working fine, the tonalics don’t follow the chord track and stay stuck with the first chord.

Forcing a refresh does fix it but it’s pretty nasty - you can do things like move a chord away and back to its original position or change a chord and then change it back.

But the most efficient way I’ve found is to toggle the Active Tempo Track icon on the transport bar off and on. Which can also be achieved in a single keystroke via a macro with a repeated command:

Transport - Activate Tempo Track

Transport - Activate Tempo Track

I’m surprised I haven’t heard more people complaining about this - has anyone had the same issue and is there a fully automatic solution that I’ve missed?

I started trying out Tonalic yesterday, starting cubase today I had exactly the same problem.

Many thanks, turning tempo track off and on fixed it.

Thanks @Ojustaboo - I find myself stabbing the F12 key whenever this happens (which is where I’ve assigned the macro above). But it might be good to raise a ticket with Celemony so they can see more people are experiencing the issue.

OK I’ll raise a ticket.
