Issues after latest upgrade

Hello

I still have tons of question mark signs in layout and engraving options, and still my key command “command-backslash” which I created for slash notations still doesn’t work anymore. Instead I get a weird screen dimming. This is all after the latest upgrade.

Can I get some help with this?

thank you all

Bobby

Are you talking about the “?” next to Page Size for example? Click on it. It’s links to the documentation.

thank you for your reply!

Yes I did click on it but I’m embarrassed to say I still don’t understand. It just links to discussions about page size, etc which I have already read. I have long ago made all my defaults, etc for all these things. But I have never before seen these question marks everywhere - even when I first opened the program years ago. Now after the update they are everywhere and frankly I don’t understand how to get rid of them or even what they mean. My page sizes seem fine. So why the question marks?

And why doesn’t my slash notation key command work anymore? Below is a screenshot of what I now get when I try and use this command.

All these things just happened with the upgrade. A bit frustrating…driving me a little crazy.

Hi @Bobby_Previte , the shortcut Command + / is the default key command to show the new help system inside Dorico. It shows question mark in specific areas of the user interface that are linked to the specific pages of the manual that explain what that functionality is.

If you are annoyed by it, or want to use the same shortcut for other functions, I suggest you delete the default key command from the Preferences/Key commands. (If you don’t delete it, I think it will be prioritised, even if you assigned it to other functions).

Here a visual guide on how to delete this default key command, so it will be free for other functions that you want to recall with it:

Christian, thank you! man that was driving me nuts.

I still see all the question marks but I assume that’s a new feature in Layout options etc - so that you can simply click on them and get information. I saw them and of course immediately assumed something was “wrong” because on a mac if you see question marks in the system it sometimes means there is some kind of issue.

Thank you so much again…

Bobby

Yes, beyond the user interface question marks (Contextual help overlay), that you can see if you click on the question mark icon at the the upper right of the Dorico window, there are, in several options/preferences windows, fixed blue circled question marks that directs you to the Manual page/s explaining that particular function.
