I always run into issues when switching from a Motu Ultralite MK5 to a Montage or Fantom.
Live doesn’t seem to recognize the device at first; it only connects to the corresponding interface after restarting two or three times.
I don’t understand why this happens—especially with the Motu. Once the project is loaded, I have to unplug the power, close Live, reconnect the power, and reload the project before everything finally works.
The startup hub recognizes all the connected interfaces, but it doesn’t always register them correctly.
I’m using an HP ZBook with an i7 processor, 32GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, and a 2TB NVMe drive.

Before we proceed: Did you try “Reset Audio Devices” in the “Devices” menu?
What connections are you talking about, audio, or MIDI? What does Devices/Connections reveal?
Need to know, to avoid performance interruption, there is no continous background scan for new devices in VSTLive.
But dropdown menu:
Devices / “Reset Audio” or “Reset MIDI” will pick device changes up.

Can you retry like so and report if your Audio or MIDI ports are still not recognised with those “Reset …” functions?

@Alberto76 Have you perhaps plugged your interface into a different USB port at some stage? If so Windows considers it to be a different device and loads another driver for it. VSTL will also think it’s new even though it might have the same name in the drop down. When the device is connected, and working as you want, open Device Manager and turn on Show Hidden Devices in the View menu - see if there are any “missing” devices for your interface in the Sound Devices section, if so delete them. Once you’re working properly again, always use the same USB port.

The issues I’m reporting are mainly MIDI-related; the MIDI freezes in every instance. And yes, I always connect to the same USB port (thanks, CliveJ).
In any case, I’m going to keep using the program—I think it’s amazing, and I can’t imagine life without it now.
I also tried resetting it, but that didn’t work either.

Just to clarify, Alberto: Did you setup your MIDI connections under Devices/Connections? And if so what does the “Connection” say when things don’t work? Do they show the proper MIDI port or do they read <n.c.> (not connected)?

Yes, everything looks correct in the program. That’s why I’m asking. In any case, I think it’s an issue with the sound card’s MIDI. Thanks!
