Issues with complex string divisi

Something I’ve never got my head around is how to display both the instrument name and group names when it comes to string divisi. As soon as you set up groups, it gets rid of the instrument name. In the below I need to keep a ‘Vln I’ label in the middle/to the left of the divisi labels. Is there a way to do this other than with a text frame? For a big score this is quite laborious.

Plus, is there a way to get rid of the little numbers above the staff? Often, these are not useful and get in the way of other staff text. I can set custom text and replace them with a space, but then that leaves little white rectangles. I can’t find any option to simply hide them. Apologies if I’ve missed something obvious.

The little numbers can be hidden in Layout Options > Staves and Systems.

I’m not sure about the staff labelling, I don’t think it’s easily possible to keep the instrument name, plus divisi groups, plus divisi sections.

You could use a player group label, but that would require a bit of fiddling to get it to show only on the systems where you have divisi groups.

Yes I’m aware about the layout options for the little numbers - sometimes they’re useful and sometimes they’re not. It would be great to be able to choose individually.

Oh well re: staff labelling, I’ll have to stick to entering them all using text frames. It’s a shame, the divisi in Dorico is so nearly perfect but I find the automatic disappearance of the instrument names a bit strange. Thanks for your help!

Agree, the divisi is so good but this feels like an odd oversight. Would be great to get it fixed some time!
