Issues with import from Finale 27

There are some things that got lost in the import

  1. I have a piano staff with melody and chords above it. In Finale, the playback plays the piano chords above the piano staff in addition to the melody on the staff. Dorico is only playing the melody (not the chords)

  2. The composer info (below the title, right-aligned) didn’t import.

  3. In Finale I have a quarter note = 115 hint in one measure 101 to guide the accel from an earlier measure. That’s missing in Dorico and as a result Dorico doesn’t speed up the playback to where I wanted it.

  4. Wherever I have poco a poco accel., Dorico just has poco accel.

  5. In Finale page view and print/export it suppresses staves that don’t have any notes on that page (and therefore is able to fit multiple systems on many of the pages). Dorico is showing all of the staves on every page with 1 system per page.

Welcome to the forum, @steve.rothkin , but please just paste your text into the message window so it does not scroll off the side of the screen.

Yes, XML import will require some clean up.

Dorico imports each XML file into a new flow, and that’s where you’ll find the data like Composer, Title, etc.
The default page template uses the Project data, not the flow data, so go to Project Info, and copy the data from Flow 1 to the Project. (One button!)

Just add “poco a” to the text in the Properties panel. (There is a button for poco a poco", but it adds the text as a suffix.)

Try Layout Options > Vertical Spacing > Staff Visiblity. There are settings there for hiding empty staves.
