I’m having some issues with a few VST3 plugins that were working fine before the latest update Cubase 15 Pro 0.21 . I kept FL Studio and, of course, tested them, and there were no problems when loading them onto a track.
They are all VST3s with a DLL file. I moved these DLL files, thinking they were the source of the problem. As a result, the VSTs no longer appear at all.
Attached is a screenshot for your review, or should I contact technical support?
When I restart Cubase Pro, I get a crash message, and I send the crash report file every time.
Thanks in advance.
I won’t be able to read your comments until tomorrow.
Attach the dmp file here to the thread, please. What do you mean by the update? Did you update from 15.0.20, or was the previous version older? Which version do you compare to?
This looks more like a VST2 plugin than a VST3 plugin to me. VST3 plugins have the extensions “.vst3”, and should reside in “C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3” (although Cubase will also load VST3 plugins from the VST2 search paths, at least it did some verisons ago…). Are you sure you loaded the VST3 version? Did it have the three “///” right to the name in the plugin selector dialog?
Hello, Martin and Fese thank you for your comments.
It seems to me that you’re right about the VST3 plugins.
Although in my screenshots, the file extension in the plugin folders is clearly VST3, on the Cubase page they’re listed as VST2.4.
As for the number, why are these more problematic than others, since Dimension Pro, Rapture 64-bit, Session Drummer x64, Z3ta+, SFZ (formerly from Cakewalk Roland), and the ones from UJAM don’t cause any issues?
For now, I won’t be using them; I’ll check with SampleScience to see if there’s an update available.
You have a lot of VST2 plugins still. Those are not officially supported by Cubase anymore. When installing plugins, I would recommend to not install vst2 anymore at all, and only select vst3, if the installer offers that option (some don’t).
It seems to me like the installer for your instruments put the vst3 file into the same folder that you chose for VST2. This is not correct. As I wrote, VST3 plugins need to be in “C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3”, so if the installer for these plugins does not work correctly, you might need to move the vst3 file into that directory.
Then, when loading an instrument in Cubase, make sure to always select the one with the “///” at the right, if there are duplicate versions of the same plugin.
Thank fese you for your advice. To be honest, because I’m running low on space on my SSD, I’ve moved some VSTs to a folder on my external hard drive to free up some space.
My laptop is currently under warranty with Acer, and I only have 500 GB of storage, so since I have my Komplete Standard library and a few other programs, I have to use this shared drive for now.
I’ll transfer the VST3s as suggested and get back to you with the results.
Otherwise, I’ll leave them for FL Studio and stop using them for now.
