It launches as SE but I own Pro

I own Dorico Pro 6. But once in a blue moon, Dorico will launch, and I’ll notice the red UPGRADE button in the corner, which confuses me since I’m already on the latest. Then when I choose About Dorico, it boldly tells me I’m running Dorico SE 6.

If I quit and relaunch it, it always come back. But this has happened occasionally here and there and it seems important to bring up. Is this a known bug? Has anyone else seen it?

I’d hate to get into a situation where Dorico continually launches as SE and doesn’t allow me to access the Pro features.

If you mistakenly hold down a modifier key (ctrl, alt) while launching Dorico, it will launch as SE or Elements.

And what if you launch the Steinberg Activation Manager, does that one show your Dorico Pro license as “Active”?

Steinberg Activation Manager does show Dorico Pro 6 as activated.

As mentioned before, simply quitting and relaunching Dorico seems to fix it. Hopefully that will always be the case, but I wonder why it happens occasionally (maybe once every few months) and want to make sure it never happens in a way that isn’t quickly fixable. No one else has seen this?

@jesele interesting idea. I don’t think I did, but of course, I could have done that by accident. I will try and keep an eye on that.

One possible cause for this is that you might inadvertently be holding down Ctrl / Command when starting Dorico, which triggers it to run as Dorico SE.
