As a person who does not even own a radio I decided to hunt down some of this “dub step” music recently to see what all the HYPE is…
Simply history repeating itself… you know … how newer generations bring back old music… and add some modern stuff to it…
After listending to 1/2 dozen Dub-Step tracks I realized it is merely Raggae music done electronically !.. VERY electronically 
Have a listen to a handful of dub-step songs and you can easily pick up its roots if you weed out all the extra ‘sounds’ (Did I say ‘weed out’ ??)… Funny thing is I think many of the people tweaking the knobs on stage may not even know they are simply rehashing (pun) Reggae…
I then tried to make a “dub-step” track or two…
VERY hard if you are thinking “I WILL WRITE MUSIC”
Much easier if you think just about putting sounds together that strike a certain chord!
But Traditional writing … is completely OUT THE DOOR… Often the ‘sounds’ can not even be documented using current notation methods…
