Trying to create a Jump Bar Alias for “Add Chord Symbols to Selection.” Alias doesn’t work, but when I type “add chord…” into the Jump Bar, I can see the alias next to “command.” What am I doing wrong?
SOLVED: you cannot begin a jump bar alias with “+”. I made the alias “qq” and it works. Let that be a lesson to you kids.
I struggle to add a new alias to a command I made. Is there a certain syntax needed? I tried to add =qq, but it doesn’t even save it. Really weird…

Hi @Hannes_Kerschbaumer, did you try to add the alias directly into the Key Commands dialogue > Jump bar Alias?
When you add the alias directly into the jumpbar follow exactly these steps:
- J for the jumpbar
- start typing the name of the item
- once it appears in the list, click the arrow keys down, up, right
- write = followed by the desired letters, without any space
- press Enter

yes, I did it exactly this way.
Perhaps the problem consists in the fact that I tried to add an Alias to a custom script? I created one to hide the noteheads, gave it a specific name. First I thought it is the underscore in the name of the script, but that’s not the case. Here a short video.

There is not jet (very unfortunately) the functionality of adding jumpbar aliases, nor Dorico key commands to scripts. You can currently launch them only through the menu or clicking on the result after a jumpbar search.
If you are on MacoOS you can easily assign a shortcut for your custom scripts, via Keyboard>Keyboard Shortcuts>App shortcuts… in System Settings. It works great!

If you need to reuse the same scripts many times in a row, the jumpobar remembers the last shortcut, so you need to click only “J Enter” to repeat the last scrip. Or assign a shortcut to the Key Command Run Last Script.
