Just lost hours of work: ARA

So, there I was, using Melodyne Studio as an ARA extension inside Cubase 14. I hit undo a few times without thinking about it–one time too many. I went back to before it was loaded as an extension and Auto Tune Pro 11 was, instead. This all happened because I tried to extend the track using blank data so it would snap to the grid: I glued the faux piece of clip onto it, like I often do with no problem. This caused what I had happening in Melodyne to go silent.

Naturally, I start tapping undo till I can hear something again. Then redo, because it doesn’t sound quite right.

But it never sounds right: I’VE LOST ALL MY EDITS. Hours upon hours of careful tweaking.

ARA needs some serious work. This is not acceptable. If Cubase can undo something, it needs to be able to save what you were doing in the extension in some recallable form, because of course it should.

Muscle memory bit me and bit me hard. For supposed professional tools, these sure do make us work for it.
