Just paid for an upgrade from Cubase 11 Elements to Cubase 15 Elements and have wasted hours already

Paid for upgrade from Cubase 11 elements to Cubase 15 elements and got a key via email.

Tried Redeem in Download manager and it says no valid license. Manager shows my old Cubase 11 on the left side.

I go into eLicenser (the system that has been shutdown). My elicense appears and I have the code. Try to register the code but it fails. Try the maintenance option but it fails.

I try the old product code in the download manager but is not valid.

I try to use the contact support but it is an endless roundabout pushing you back into the FAQ world.

I want to scream.

I bought Cubase 11 from Steinberg. They should know that already. I shouldnt have to prove it again to get something I just paid good money for. Have wasted around 3 hours already.

As for registering products - when I buy a pencil sharpener these days they want you to register it.

Welcome to the forum

This sounds like you either bought the wrong update or your Cubase Elements 11 license is not registered in your online profile.

Have you checked the registration in your profile?

The eLicenser does not work anymore, the server is shutdown since May 2025. Go to your online profile and check the registration, the old maintenance has no effect anymore.

Regarding the codes, all product codes are one time code. They are of no use as soon as they have been used once.

Hi, thanks for the response.

  1. The purchase process is specific: cb11 elements to cb15 elemnts. No mistake.
  2. You say; check the registration in your profile. What am I looking for and where am I looking for it. To tell me what?
  3. I am fully aware the License system has shut down.
  4. Can you please tell me how to resolve this problem

Login to your online profile, via the Steinberg website

There you find all the information that is registered for your products.

Look for your eLicenser ID and check if the Cubase Elements 11 license is registered there.

If not you can register it via the red button in the upper right corner. You can find the ID in the eLicenser Control Center, where your current license is stored.

Please keep in mind that this is a user forum and I’m not a Steinberg employee, just another user.

Hi,

Oh goodness, sorry I thought you worked for steinberg

Will go and take a look at my details,

Thanks

Just went into profile.

Looked at licensed devices and there was nothing

Just above was option to register eLicense product. Entered old license and all good with code registered

Redeem function worked and new version is downloading.

I can’t thank you enough or express how appalling the Steinberg process was. 3 lines of proper instructions would have saved me 3 hours and almost dumping the product.

My thanks to you again

You’re welcome…

Glad that it works for you now. Would be nice if you click the solution button in my last response :slightly_smiling_face:

I have this same issue, purchased the cubase pro 11 or older version as I have 10.5 pro, but when I tried to register my license id, it said registration successful and just never showed the licenser on the list. The only licensers showing are my soft elicensers that do not contain my license for cubase pro 10.5 (older version)

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Your C11 Pro license shows up in your MySteinberg account. Excellent, you can update your license anytime you want.
Your eLicenser (software or hardware) will not see an update - servers are down. You can run old Cubase versions (< C12) using your physical USB eLicenser.as long as it doesn’t break. All good.
