I have a question about justifying the last system of a flow. I have 3 flows. I have in “note spacing” of Layout Options defined that “only justify final system in flow when more then” is set to 80%.
But Dorico justified the end of my first flow and the third flow. He didn’t touch my 2nd flow. Dorico always stretches the last system of flow 1 and 3, whatever setting I use in the note spacing. Other parts that end with notes instead of a rest in flow 1 and 3 are OK. So it seems that Dorico doesn’t care about note spacing and settings of justify when last measure(s) are rests ? Is this just the way Dorico works or am I doing something wrong here ?
As soon as I put a note in the last measure of flow 1, then the justifying rule is applied correctly. So it really likes like Dorico only applies the justifying rule when there are notes in the last measure.
But I understood why flow 3 has this beheaviour, it should be because of the multimeasure rest. However, I still don’t understand why I have the problem with flow 1.
OK, I didn’t know that Dorico threats the one bar rest also as a multimeasure bar. Doesn’t seem logic to me as musician/composer but I suppose that’s the difference between human and IT ;o)
That’s what I was suggesting: by doing that you insert a Chord Symbol Region, which is a trick to make Dorico think there is something in a bar when there isn’t anything
It breaks the multi-bar rest.
Gotta love the math: 1 or more equals “multi”!
