Kernelbase.dll error in C14: Known error use only letters and number in names for now

Just downloaded C14 and tried to open a C13 file. Received a Kernalbase.dll error. Any suggestions?

I plan to keep working in C13 for my present projects and start new ones in C14 for now so I probably won’t do much troubleshooting for now but it would be nice if someone knew a quick fix.

Thanks,
Ricardo

Hi,

attach the *.dmp file, please.

Win: %userprofile%/Documents/Steinberg/Crash Dumps

Hey Ricardo! We are investigating a problem that could happen in that moment. This could be related to the changes made to the new auto save system. Could you tell me the exact name of your project and would you test renaming the Project to something simple and reopen it?
Thanks for reporting the issue!

I renamed it to AB and it seems to work.
The old filename was “7] Open Chord 2024 V5”

Cheers,
Richard

Ahh, a “]” could be the culprit. Thanks for your help! We will make a fix for that. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Having this same issue. It seems that including a “+” in the filename was causing the problem.

The same problem with the symbol (+) Cubase does not create a project, or does not open it at all. We are waiting for an urgent update of Cubase!

Thanks for reporting your experience. Sorry for your problems, we already implemented a fix. The current plan is to roll it out with the first maintenance update.
Please use the given workaround until then.
