Kernelbase error on Cubase 14, windows 11

My system is:

Dual Xeon 2699 v4
256gb ram
3080 rtx
SSD drives
Presonus revelator USB interface

I just got cubase 14 from splice. Tried to install and getting this error. Tried disabling plugins, deleting preferences, clean install, clean install Nvidia studio drivers. Nothing works. All drivers up to date. Here’s a picture and the crash file. Please help. Cubase 14 is all I ever wanted in this life.

Cubase 14.0.5 64bit2024.11.25 13.15.12.633.dmp (1.3 MB)

I suspect the ten-year-old processor, is it actually supported?

Yeah it’s supported. I actually saw something that said I might have too many threads and to turn off hyperthreading. I didnt want to do that though. Cubase 11, 12, and 13 have all worked fine.

That’s nonsense. Should work fine.
Which Windows version?

Windows 11 x64, fully up to date. Steinberg support told me to contact Microsoft. Not gonna do that. Ill probably just ditch Cubase.

The crash dump says Win10.

It is definitely Windows 11 Pro. I am thinking i might just do a clean windows install. It’s been a while anyway.

For whatever reason, WinDbg always lists Windows 10 in Windows 11 crash logs.

So I did a clean install. Full format. Nothing but windows 11 pro, fully updated. All drivers updated. The first thing I did was install cubase 14:

SAME PROBLEM

I hate my life.

Ugh. Well, something is interfering with your erstwhile likeable life.
Just spitballing here – if you’ve eliminated software as the culprit, maybe look at hardware. Like the video card, ram modules…

I just read on another topic that somebody fixed it by turning off “controlled folder access” in security. I’ll try that when i get home.

Internally it is always Windows 10, what counts is the build number. The System Information screenshot shows the “Version” and there you see this number (10.0.22631). The official name for Build 22631 is “Windows 11 23H2”.

Everything from Build 22000 and later is named Windows 11, everything before that is Windows 10.

The latest Build is 26100 and that is Windows 11 24H2.

Hey Asabado, this could be related to an error that should be fixed with version 14.0.10.
Please update to the newest version and try to rename your projectfile to something very simple like “hello123” or similiar. No special characters or similar. If only renaming helps, then please report back and please tell me the name of our projectfile.

Best regards,
Alex

Edit: I just noticed your screenshot says you are working on C14.0.5. Please update to the newest version before doing anything
